Iran Election and the "Internal Affairs" argument

by: tom

The Iranian government claims foreign powers meddle in their internal affairs. Sorry, but there is no such excuse for their actions following the election. The "internal affairs" argument does not apply in a situation wherein basic human rights are violated. When human rights are violated, it actually is everybody's business. Of course they don't see it that way. I don't expect them to view themselves as crooks and abusers of human rights. They probably recognize human rights as a western invention with no relevance to themselves. Their election fraud is easily justified by claiming that the opposition would possibly make Iran open to western ideas, moving away from their god.
